- Newsgroups:
- The newsgroup where a lot of this information is taken from is:
comp.sys.laptops
You can also post your own questions there (and hope that someone helpful
will answer).
- You can also search the newsgroups with DejaNews at
www.dejanews.com.
- Notebook Buyer's Message Board:
I have set up a message board that will deal with advice or questions
about buying notebooks. Please do not post any 'FOR SALE' messages or any
advertisements as they will be deleted. The URL for the message board is
www.netleague.com/wwwboards/notebook.
Please feel free to ask or answer any posts that you see there. I am
trying to build a network to assist people in their notebook purchases.
- Websites:
- The Laptop Jungle:
This place has most of the original manufacturers, resellers and vendors
all linked to each other. If you want to know who is the original
manufacturer of a certain brand, this is the site for you. It can be found
at:
www.lyngemark.com/jungle
- NoteBookMall:
Looking for a used or new notebook? Want to sell one? Need to find
one? Need to fix one? This is the place, it has a listing service, a
finding service and anything in between. They are also affiliated with
a service company that repairs notebooks. The site is located at:
www.notebookmall.com
- Portable Computing Center (formerly Laptop Central):
"Home of the Portable Computing FAQ" (that's what epbrown calls it).
This is in fact a very informative website and the guy who wrote it has
helped me quite a bit. Check it out at:
www.enteract.com/~epbrown
- Notebook Technology Summary:
Lawrence Lek has put together a site detailing the latest notebook
technologies... this is a very good site if you want to find out what's up
and coming. The URL is
ds.dial.pipex.com/lawrence.lek/notebooks.htm.
- People:
Some people that I've have met through the newgroup have quite a bit of
information concerning prices and specs. The following have been very
helpful to me:
- Please do not e-mail m.karesh anymore as he cannot reply to any
questions.
- epbrown@enteract.com
- Author of Portable Computing Center, home of the Portable Computing
FAQ (see Links and References)
- Owns a Kiwi 680T
